EDUCATION & ENRICHMENT WORKSHOPS

Education is at the heart of Tuba Dance Theatre's mission. We have tailor made enrichment workshops for Key Stage 1 & 2 in primary school settings (adaptable for SEND students). We offer, traditional West African dance forms, music, and performance projects using company repertoire during Black History Month and beyond. Members of Tuba Dance Theatre are qualified teachers with enhanced DBS who have been working in education for over 20 years with a vast amount of experience in primary school settings. We have great knowledge and experience within the arts sector as all our members are working professional artists who bring an authentic flavour of African history & culture to education.

AFRICAN DANCE

Our African dance workshops will inspire young artists to:

Engage in traditional West African dance forms. These dance forms are an exploration of our company repertoire using West African dance techniques from the Wolof, Fulani, Mandinka & Jola ethnic group.
Exploration of choreographic devices where children would be challenged to expand their creative and technical perimeters in African dance.

AFRICAN MUSIC

Our African music workshops will inspire young artists to develop:

Singing & vocal techniques, drawing from traditional & contemporary African songs to diversify vocal range in new styles of music.
Traditional West African percussion techniques, using instruments such as Djembe & Balafon, learning the fundamentals and foundations of this fun and energetic art forms.

PERFORMANCE PROJECTS

Our performance projects draw on all the elements of expressive arts forms to explore work from company repertoire.

You will expand on performance skills in line with the national curriculum which includes:
